WIMA Rally Day 5: In Conclusion

Miles today: 80

Today was the last day of the rally. We had a sponsored BBQ lunch at a Harley Davidson dealership. Julie was really hoping to replace her Butler map, but they didn't even know what those were!

For the first time ever, I had to wait in line for the bathroom at a motorcycle dealership.

We walked around admiring bikes painted all kinds of pretty colors. Harley also does a great job with women's shirts. Why can't the other brands put some effort in to their women's merch?? Well, that is the point of the WRWR app, to do industry studies on women motorcyclists so that manufacturers can't say they don't know what we want.

Afterwards, we went to check out the flagship LL Bean that was open 24 hrs since it's near the Appalachain Trail. It was a campus of 3 buildings, with a map and everything. It was a little overwhelming. We didn't find anything we couldn't live without, but used the opportunity for cell service to sit on their couch and figure out some hotels.

Back to camp after that so we could start packing before dinner. Julie was soooo glad she took a shower before dinner bc it was a late nite!

Tonight was the final night of the rally so there was a party. We had a dessert display and Julie misunderstood the ration was apparently 1 dessert per person, not one piece of key lime cheesecake per person. Oh well. The teramisu was also super delicious. Jaron apparently also misunderstood the ration and also had more than 1 dessert when I sat down. But, there was plenty for everyone.

Jaron had a good time at the rally. I wasn't sure if he'd feel left out or outnumbered or if there would be many other men, but he socialized plenty on his own. He stayed at the bonfire later than I did and he also stayed for one of the movie nights after I went to do nightly ablutions.

There were about 10 men and 150 women here in total. The men sure had to stick together in this woman's world! Seriously tho, the men who attended were all great. When you think about it, by being there they are 1) of sufficient social skills to be in a relationship, and 2) supportive of women motorcyclists. We teased about calling Jaron "of Julie" and another woman's partner was a good sport when I called him "of Kim."

Jaron also learned that sarcasm didn't translate for the international crowd. The Aussies picked up on some of it. It's like an entire dialect was unavailable to him.

It was sadly time for our meal card wristbands. They really did last for 6 nights. Jaron's was hanging on by a thread for a day, but it made it. Through showers and everything. I said maybe I'll just keep mine on until I get home. Amy called them our friendship bracelets. 🥰🤣
