WRWR USA Ripple - Maryland

Image
I’ve been looking forward to this day for several months. I asked my awesome BMW dealership to be a refreshment stop for the Women Riders’ US Ripple Relay as it makes its way thru Maryland, and they really exceeded expectations . About 25 women came from Ohio, New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. The US Ripple Relay is a support relay for the Women Riders’ World Relay (WRWR) . The World Relay began in Scotland in February and is making its way around the world in a year with 18,000 women riders  passing a baton. You can see where all the global baton has been . (The Pakistani government actually wanted to destroy the baton bc it contains a gps tracker which is military technology, but a brave and ass-kicking Pakistani lady rider talked them out of it.) Because that is a world relay, it is only in the US for a 18 days and can’t go to every state. So, Ripple Relays are kind of a grassroots version so that people who live days away from the world relay ro...

ADV Training Weekend

Image
After I got back from the womens' rally, it was time to get ready for our next adventure, namely Adventure Training weekend w/ Zacker Adventures . It was put together by my awesome BMW dealership . Last year Jaron & I did a private training day with Todd Zacker a month after we got our Tigers, a month before our 4 Corners trip. It was rough, plus it was muddy that weekend, but it was really beneficial and there were definitely places we would not have attempted to go had we not done it. Quick side note: I got back from the womens’ rally on Sunday on the purple girl, commuted a couple of times on my BMW, and then headed out on Friday on the Tigress. I managed to ride all 3 of my bikes in the same week. Best week ever.  We stayed at Loafer's Glory in WV, run by a couple who rides and who cooked all of our delicious meals from scratch. There was noooooo cell service and ...

Lady Riders Unite!

Last weekend, Julie attended the Mid-Atlantic Womens’ Motorcycle Rally in Front Royal, VA. I’d never been before and it was just tons of fun. I took the purple girl. Not a lot of cargo space on that bike! The saddlebags are probably less than...15L each and were full of my day-to-day stuff and tools/compressor, and then I had the two small duffel bags and my blue work laptop sandwiched between them. I left on Wed 6/19 evening after waiting until I could send a critical work email. I was all packed up since the previous Saturday after we got back from PA. As in, we got home on Saturday from PA and I did laundry and packed and loaded my luggage on to the purple bike that day. It was a good thing, too, because I would not have had time to pack and load the bike up on weeknights that week. In fact, two new riders had posted in the FB group about looking for someone to ride with them to Front Royal, but they weren't comfortable riding at night and I knew I was not going t...
