Clopen Adirondacks

Miles today: 183 en moto + 2 on foot

Soundtrack: NIN, Julie's Shake It playlist

Today we made it to the Adirondacks, where we are staying for 2 nights. Our bkst sandwiches in the room were perfect and we headed out up a precariously sharp turn and steep driveway.

It turns out that Adventure Level 4 is just "take every side street" mode. So Julie reset to level 3. After leaving & returning to the same highway again, Julie reset it to level 2 and that seemed to be reasonable. Ugh, I guess there is no free lunch when it comes to navigation.

We stopped for lunch at a place Julie found along our route and it was ok. Jaron felt that this was an illegal employment practice. Don't skip the fine print.

The lunch place parking lot contained a lot of motorcycles, plus this truck.

After a while Julie's hips were getting stiff. Her ergonomic handlebars for sitting didn't work so well standing up, so she stretched her legs backwards to tough the side bags. Jaron asked what was going on and I said just stretching. He tried to see if he could touch his luggage with his feet, too, and said we were doing motorcycle yoga.

One of Julie's saved restaurants was a mile from our hotel and it was nice out, so we decided to walk. One of the places we had considered for dinner was closed when we passed it, and one of Julie's saved ice cream places was also closed with no posted hours. There was a shop along our walk with both closed and open signs displayed simultanously. After walking a mile, our nice restaurant was closed. Jaron goes, I guess it's going to be Chinese tonight, bc they're open. I asked how he knew, he said they had an open sign, but I asked if it had a closed sign in addition to the open sign? He said it had a lighted open sign.

So that's where we went and ordered at the counter to take our food in to the adjacent dining room after buying bottles of water from a drink display. They even called out our order over a speaker in the dining room for us to pick it up at the counter. Julie's house fried rice was super bland, so today was just a meh food day. (The bkst sandwich was good but it was acquired yesterday.) Jaron suggested we could stop at the grocery store so Julie could get a snack, but when we got there it was closed. The lowest of the low.

We passed a school for students with very optimistic parents.

Is it also sex-free? Rock & roll free? I mean, I hope so.

We got ice cream on our way back that is literally next door to our hotel and it wad really yummy. The only other businesses open were for candy, ice cream, and alcohol.
