Warming Up

Miles today: ~80

Today, Jaron went to Manchester to get his new phone and Julie had an afternoon warm-up ride with the women's program at DirtDaze. We had a relaxed morning and then headed out for our respective days.

The warm-up ride was perfect. Not stressful, so I could actually think to apply some of my training. Unfortunately it started raining on us and we had to skip our ice cream stop. ☹️ I'd forgotten to get gas before I came and unfortunately had also forgotten to reset my tripometer the last time I filled up so I didn't know exactly how empty my tank was, but I knew it was pretty low. Fortunately someone had about half a gallon for me and then when I filled up later the bike took almost 2.7 gallons, which is the point at which my fuel light would have come on. The ride was beautiful and uneventful. We stopped at a couple of public parks and got to know each other among our small group. There was the leader, 2 sweeps, photographer, and 2 participants. The Level 1 training was today and it was fully booked so that's where everyone was.

Here is a picture of some of the ladies in front of the Camp Downer sign.

Jaron's tidbit from today was feeling like a Boomer luddite while he was at the Apple store getting his new phone set up.

Around 5:00 Jaron made it to the rally and we got dinner there and talked to Julie's instructors for the Level 2 training she's taking tomorrow. One of them is BJ Hessler from DC Dirt Camp! https://www.dcdirtcamp.com/  Then we headed out before the rain came and hit the store on the way home. Energy drink & snacks for Jaron who has an early morning tomorrow before his guided ride, and cooking spray for Julie who would like to fry some eggs for breakfast before her less early morning. Also, Julie got some liquid shampoo & conditioner and is going to have to try more bar shampoo & conditioner before depending on it. Motorcycle trips are hard on my hair anyway, and since I'm not space-constrained this time there was no reason to completely wreck it.

Back to the cottage for showers & Julie's nightly stove s'more ritual.
