No Coffee

Miles today: 248

We ACTUALLY LEFT HOME BEFORE NOON today. Like, actually. Amazing.

We decided on this trip only 2.5 weeks ago. Julie was not going to be able to take off in August because of a project, but it came early, so we are headed to the DirtDaze East adventure motorcycle rally and Julie will participate in the women's program and Jaron will go to the regular rally. So Julie will get some training rides and a training day! We went to this rally in 2019: http://ridinard.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-road-of-thousand-f-bombs.html?m=1

We are sadly not camping on this trip due to the last minute nature of it. If this is a rally we are going to go to again or travel this area again, I will need to research where the good campsites are.

I finally figured out how to route my hydration pack hose because...reasons.

The first couple of hours were interstate, until Harrisburg, PA. Julie got the hungries and found somewhere off the highway to stop for lunch. It turned out not to exist, but, there was an Asian mall instead (score!) so we got Thai food and it was really good.

We kept going and finally got to leave the interstate. Julie planned this route using a combination of Butler roads and routes recommended by New England Riders. The roads were great, but there were a lot of slow-ass Sunday drivers & riders.

Jaron saw a Fuck Biden flag flying in front of someone's house, but noted that it was flying under the American flag--as is right and proper. But he wants to know, if one wanted to also fly a state flag, would it go above or below the Fuck Biden flag? 🤔

We learned that we have to ask about breakfast & coffee BEFORE booking a room at an Inn. They don't serve breakfast on weekdays. ☹️ And they don't have coffee in the morning! So Julie feels validated on having had the foresight to bring the instant coffee from our camping supplies. AND, despite the fact that the restaurant is supposed to be open until 8 tonight, they had already started cleaning the kitchen at 7:15 when we got there. 😤 Fortunately there was another place for dinner within walking distance. And a pie bakery is on our way out of town for breakfast.

There is this cedar armoire, though.

So at lunchtime Julie was like...must...eat...meat. (due to strength training) For dinner, the black bean burger and polenta spoke to me. They were good but it wasn't enough food, so I also got a fried eggplant and burrata appetizer. I realized I was having a vegetarian dinner! The flavors were great. After dinner we saw that the ice cream place was still open. They had a vegan oat milk ice cream with chocolate chunks, so I figured I'd stick to the theme and try that. It was yummy! I don't think I've ever had oat milk before, let alone in ice cream form.

Tomorrow we'll make our way thru NY. Jaron already found us a hotel that has coffee. 👍🏻
