Good Intentions Road

This morning we left at 10:15, hallelujia and praise the lawd. We made it to PA by 12:15. This has never happened before in the history of RidinArd.
At some point we saw a side street called Good Intentions Rd. We all know where THAT leads.
We found this nice park to take a break at just over the MD/PA border. Look at those sexy bikes. We are both on our 1200's for this trip.
Jaron planed our route using Rever via the browser, which has Butler maps built in. (Butler maps have good motorcycle roads labeled.) He was able to save a route and load it on his phone and the roads today were all just great. A good mix of twisties, sweeping turns, and a 13% grade. The weather was on our side today, too. Mid 80's and no rain. For a minute there it looked like some rain clouds were trying to come out, but they wussed out and left us alone. Part of the route crossed I-76 a couple of times through some farmland. We both caught a lot of bugs on this part of the ride. It was kind of funny, when I slowed down for a curve a bug crawling up my visor fell off. Ah, momentum.
The stop signs in this area were kind of confusing. Stop unless turning right. Oncoming traffic does not stop. Stop unless turning left. Traffic from right does not stop. There were a few more and we would try to decipher them but eventually we just decided they were all optional.
We had a lunch break somewhere at a roadside restaurant after a failed attempt at going to a cafe that was closed. We decided that Punxatawny was a good stopping point. There were a bunch of B&Bs so we figured we were in good shape.
We show up in Punxatawney and call a B&B and Jaron leaves a message. Since it was nearby, we just went and knocked. No dice. Julie called another one and left a message. Hmm. It's almost 7 so this isn't looking good. So we found a nearby hotel and Julie negotiated us a rate. We made a quick stop for some cheese & crackers to go with the fruit we brought from home.
We park at the hotel and Jaron points out that the conference room is full of Amish people. Ok, cool. Here is the hat check.
There are Amish markets all over and it's not uncommon to pass a horse & buggy in this part of PA. We can't really hear what is going on but there is a speaker and he is really revved up. Mind you it was 7:30 when we pulled up and I was thinking it's getting kind of late for hardworking people to be out. Jaron noticed some electric assist bicycles on our way in. While we were unloading, Jaron sees some of the Amish folks get in to a minivan and drive off, and others from that group got on the electric assist bicycles. So that's today's lesson in stereotypes not always being true. Or maybe that was the resistance and we witnessed the start of an uprising...?
Here is our dinner of fruit, cheese & crackers.
Onward towards Detroit tomorrow.
